MEDIHONEY HCS Adhesive
MEDIHONEY HCS ADHESIVE SHEET DRESSING is a moist wound dressing made of Leptospermum Honey in combination with a hydrogel colloidal gelling agent, surrounded by an adhesive border. As wound exudate is absorbed, the dressing – which has a low pH and high osmolarity – forms a gel. This assists in maintaining a moist environment for optimal wound healing, aids in autolytic debridement, and allows for non-traumatic removal. This product is an occlusive dressing, and does not require a secondary dressing.

Contraindications, Warnings, and Precautions
- Medihoney HCS Adhesive Sheet Dressing is not indicated for third degree burns, wounds with heavy bleeding, and patients with a known sensitivity to honey.
- Some patients may notice slight transient stinging. If sting does not stop or cannot be managed with analgesic, remove dressing and cleanse area.
- An increase in exudate may occur due to the high osmolarity. Manage with an absorptive cover dressing.
Uses
- Diabetic foot ulcers
- Leg ulcers (venous stasis ulcers, arterial ulcers, and leg ulcers of mixed etiology)
- Pressure ulcers / sores (partial and full thickness)
- First and second-degree partial thickness burns
- Donor sites, and traumatic and surgical wounds
How to Use Medihoney HCS Adhesive
- Wash hands thoroughly. Apply gloves.
- Assess the wound. Look for signs of healing, increased redness, pain, swelling, or heart within or around the wound.
- Cleanse the wound and skin around the wound with sterile saline, sterile water, or other safe wound cleansers. Dry the skin around the wound by patting gently with gauze.
- Protect the skin around the wound to avoid maceration. Apply a skin protectant barrier wipe or barrier ointment.
- Choose a dressing that is appropriate for the amount of drainage (dry to moderate exudates that are superficial to partial thickness wounds)
- Apply the dressing to fit the wound.
- To remove: Remove the dressing gently. If the dressing is difficult to remove, moisten with saline or water. Discard the old dressing in a disposal bag.
