SILVERCEL NON-ADHERENT Antimicrobial Alginate Dressing with EASYLIFT Precision Film Technology

3M Health Care is now Solventum. The same products you know and trust, now under a new brand.

SILVERCEL™ is an antimicrobial hydroalginate dressing. Each non-woven pad uses a combination of alginate, carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), and nylon fibers coated with silver to absorb exudate, reduce bioburden, and create a moist healing environment. At the same time, EASYLIFT™ technology provides a non-adherent contact layer that allows for painless, non-traumatic removal.

How SILVERCEL™ Antimicrobial Alginate Dressings Work

To decrease the amount of bacteria present in the wound, hold onto exudate, and streamline dressing changes without disturbing newly forming tissue, SILVERCEL™ antimicrobial alginate dressings feature the following:

  • EASYLIFT™ Technology

EASYLIFT™ Precision Film Technology improves dressing changes. Rather than have fibers stick or become loose, SILVERCEL™ dressings remain in one piece without adhering to the wound bed. This process won’t interrupt new tissue growth while allowing the dressing to continue absorbing a high amount of exudate.

  • Broad-Spectrum Antibacterial Action

Each SILVERCEL™ dressing delivers sustained release of silver ions for up to seven days. As this occurs, the dressing helps control a wide range of microorganisms and bacteria and lessen potential odors. At the same time, construction blocks out exterior pathogens that could invite infection and stall healing.

  • Encourages Wound Healing

Aiding multiple healing stages, SILVERCEL™ dressings absorb fluids from moderate- to high-exudate wounds while maintaining a moist environment.

Key Feature

SILVERCEL NON-ADHERENT Antimicrobial Alginate Dressing with EASYLIFT Precision Film Technology protects newly-formed tissues while minimzing fiber detachment. It acts against a broad spectrum of germs that are pathogenic to the wound, including MRSA, MRSE, and VRE and destroys biofilms effectively in vitro. This antimicrobial effect is secured by a sustained release of silver ions, lasting up to 7 days depending on wound conditions and exudate level.

Uses

  • Moderate to heavily exudating partial and full-thickness, chronic and acute wounds
  • Pressure Ulcers
  • Venous Ulcers
  • Diabetic Ulcers
  • Donor Sites
  • Traumatic and surgical wounds
  • First and second-degree burns

How to Use SILVERCEL NON-ADHERENT Antimicrobial Alginate Dressing with EASYLIFT Precision Film Technology

  1. Select a dressing size that is slightly larger than the wound. Debride when necessary and irrigate the wound site in accordance with appropriate wound managament protocol. Remove any excess solution from the surrounding skin.
  2. Using clean scissors, cut SILVERCEL NON-ADHERENT or fold the dressing to fit the wound.
  3. Ensure the dressing does not overlap the wound margins.
  4. Gently apply SIVERCEL NON-ADHERENT dressing to the wound.
  5. Loosely pack deep wounds. As wound conditions improve and exudate levels decrease, moisten the wound bed with normal saline solution prior to application.
  6. Cover SILVERCEL NON-ADHERENT dressing with a secondary dressing. Choose a secondary dressing based on the level of exudate. Apply a secondary cover or retention/compression bandage.
  7. Removal – gently remove the dressing from the wound bed and discard. If the wound appears dry, saturate the dressing with sterile solution prior to removal. Dressing change frequency will depend on wound condition and the level of exudate. Reapply SILVERCEL NON-ADHERENT dressing when the secondary dressing has reached its absorbent capacity or according to good wound care practice.

This product is part of Solventum’s (Formerly 3M) comprehensive plan for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) and venous leg ulcers (VLU). Biofilm, present in greater than 70% of chronic wounds, causes persistent inflammation and poor wound healing. Wound bed preparation, including the management of biofilm, is an essential element in treating these often-stubborn conditions.
