Description
PROMOGRAN PRISMA Matrix
3M Health Care is now Solventum. The same products you know and trust, now under a new brand.PROMOGRAN PRISMA Matrix is a revolutionary collagen and silver dressing by Solventum (Formerly 3M) designed to absorb varying levels of exudate and create a moist healing environment, even in wounds that have stalled. Watch the transformation of this hexagonal dressing into a biodegradable gel that comes into contact with all areas of a wound. |
Indications and Applications:
PROMOGRAN™ PRISMA Matrix is indicated for the management of wound healing by secondary intent which are clear of necrotic tissue including:
Diabetic ulcers
Venous ulcers
Pressure ulcers
Ulcers caused by mixed vascular aetiologies
Traumatic and surgical wounds
Skin tears, abrasions, and donor sites
PROMOGRAN PRISMA™ Matrix should be stored away from direct light. Over-exposure to light may cause some discolouration, however this does not affect the release of silver from the dressing. Store below 25 °C / 77 °F. Prepare a wound bed per your standard wound care protocol and debride when necessary.
How it Works
In the presence of exudate, PROMOGRAN™ PRISMA Matrix transforms into a soft, conformable, biodegradable gel, allowing contact with all areas of the wound.
PROMOGRAN™ PRISMA Matrix maintains a physiologically moist microenvironment at the wound surface effective at fighting common wound pathogens. This environment is conducive to granulation, new tissue formation, epithelialization, and optimal wound healing.
How to Use PROMOGRAN PRISMA Matrix
For optimal effect, apply PROMOGRAN PRISMA™ Matrix directly to the whole wound bed.
- Hydrate the wound with saline or Ringer’s solution to activate the gel forming process. This works best for wounds with low or no exudate.
- Cover PROMOGRAN PRISMA Matrix with gauze, a non-adhering dressing, or a hydropolymer dressing. This maintains the moist healing environment. You may use compression therapy techniques at this stage, but it must be used under the direction of a physician or medical professional.
- Repeat the first two steps once every 72 hours, depending on the amount of exudate. For heavily exuding or infected wounds, you may need to repeat these steps every 24 hours. It is not required to remove any residual PROMOGRAN PRISMA Matrix.
PROMOGRAN PRISMA™ Matrix is comprised of a sterile, freeze dried composite of 44% oxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC), 55% collagen and 1% silver-ORC. Silver-ORC contains 25% w/w ionically bound silver, a well-known antimicrobial agent.
What is ORC?
Cellulose is a major component of all plants. Once oxidized, ORC (Oxidized Regenerated Cellulose) is completely bioresorbable, and readily degrades through fluid absorption and subsequent gelling.
Studies show ORC:
- Has hemostatic properties
- Stimulated cell migration and growth
- Has bactericidal properties
- Reduced protease activity levels, specifically elastase and MMPs
- Scavenged free radicals and bound excess metal ions
This product is part of Solventum’s (Formerly 3M) comprehensive plan for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) and venous leg ulcers (VLU). Biofilm, present in greater than 70% of chronic wounds, causes persistent inflammation and poor wound healing. Wound bed preparation, including the management of biofilm, is an essential element in treating these often-stubborn conditions.
