The New Image Flat FlexWear Skin Barrier is compatible with two-piece ostomy systems. This barrier is designed to deliver a secure hold, even when worn past one day, and includes an integrated floating flange. This innovative feature provides enough room for fingers to be placed below the flange, reducing the amount of pressure needed to attach an ostomy pouch.
How It Works
The FlexWear is a standard, flat barrier with cut-to-fit and pre-sized options available, based on the patient’s preferences. Barriers come with or without a tape border and are compatible with multiple types of two-piece New Image ostomy pouches, provided they use the same flange size:
• Drainable
• Closed
• Urostomy

Benefits
For patients using an ostomy system, the FlexWear barrier:
Helps with maintaining adhesion while in use, via its unique floating flange and locking system.
Protects peristomal skin from damage by preventing leakage and lessening the amount of pressure needed to secure the ostomy system.
Is ideal for a wider range of ostomy patients, including those who recently underwent surgery.
Is constructed without natural rubber latex to avoid irritation and potential allergic reactions.

To Use
• Make sure the barrier and complete ostomy system, as well as a cleaning cloth and water, are on hand. For the cut-to-fit barrier, have a pair of scissors ready.
• Peel off the existing barrier, starting at one corner and pulling the material away from the skin. Clean and completely dry the peristomal skin.
• For the cut-to-fit FlexWear barrier, measure the stoma via the measuring guide, and then cut the barrier based on your measurements. Make sure you do not cut beyond the release liner.
• To apply, first remove the release liner, and then, place the barrier opening in a diamond formation right over the stoma.
• Peel off the barrier’s backing paper. Then, placing your fingers under the flange, press the plate into the skin, and hold it there for at least a minute.
• Attach the pouch by lining up its flange with the barrier flange. Press them together so that you hear a click.
• As soon as the pouch is secured to the barrier, close the bottom.
