How Do Mepilex® Border Flex Foam Dressings Work?
Accommodating a wide range of injuries, Mepilex® Border Flex Foam Dressings pair flexibility with construction designed to absorb, distribute and lock in wound exudate. This combination helps it remain in place while blocking out bacteria and moisture and creating a balanced healing environment.

Each Mepilex® Border Flex dressing is equipped with:

• Breathable backing film: This feature allows moisture to evaporate from the wound, provides water resistance for shower usage and blocks bacteria and viruses from passing through to the wound bed.
• Retention layer: This superabsorbent layer traps exudate to prevent leaks and maceration.
• Polyurethane foam pad: This highly absorbent core further helps manage wound fluid while protecting the surrounding skin.
• Surrounding layer: Non-woven construction distributes exudate over a wider area. This action reduces leaks and enhances absorption capabilities.
• Safetac® technology: Integral to Mepilex® dressings, this silicone layer improves contact while lessening pain and reducing skin damage during removal. Safetac® further helps lock in fluid to prevent leaks and allow new tissue to form.
