When to use ConvaFoam:
- As a secondary dressing
- When biofilm likelihood is higher
- Used in combination with an antibiofilm primary dressing
- For wounds up to 2cm deep
- As a primary dressing
- When biofilm likelihood is lower
- For shallow wounds up to 0.5cm
Contraindications, Warnings, and Precautions
- ConvaFoam dressings are not compatible with oxidizing agents such as hydrogen peroxide or hypochlorite solutions.
- ConvaFoam Border dressing are for single use only. Do not reuse. Reuse may lead to increased risk of infection, cross-contamination, and delayed healing.
- This dressing should not be used with other wound care products without first consulting a health care professional.
- ConvaFoam dressings should not be submerged during bathing or swimming.
- Consult a health care professional if any of the following are observed: irritation (reddening, inflammation), maceration (whitening of skin), hyper-granulation (excess tissue formation), sensitivity or allergic reaction, signs of infection occur (increased pain, bleeding, wound drainage), changes in wound color and/odor, increase in wound size, or wound not showing signs of healing.
- After use, this product may be a potential biohazard. Handle and dispose of in accordance with accepted medical practice and applicable local laws and regulations.
How to Use ConvaFoam Border Adhesive Silicone Hydrofiber Foam Dressing
- Ensure the skin surrounding the wound is free from creams and moisturizers which could prevent the dressing from sticking. Before applying the dressing, cleanse with a suitable wound cleanser and dry the surrounding skin. If a moisture barrier is required, select a spray or liquid that will dry before dressing application.
- Choose an appropriate dressing size where the central absorbent pad is at least 1cm larger than the wound. If applying to intact skin, choose a dressing which covers the entire vulnerable area.
- Remove the dressing from the sterile pouch. Remove the release liner and try to avoid touching the adhesive surface.
- Hold dressing over the wound or area of skin to be protected and line up the center of the dressing with the center of the wound or area of skin to be protected.
- Ensure not to stretch the dressing during application. Smooth down the adhesive border.
- Ensure joints are sufficiently flexed to allow patient mobility.
- Dressings can be cut to fit. Use additioinal tape or film dressing to create a seal.
- To remove – ConvaFoam dressings can be worn for up to 7 days, but should be changed earlier if clinically indicated.
